Referrals
Referrals to FPC can be made by parents, carers, GP's, schools, or other professionals. When you call we will have a brief discussion with you about the nature of your concerns to ensure that we are the most appropriate service for you.
Rebates
Most of our services are eligible for a Medicare rebate of about $129.50 for clinical psychologists. In order to receive a Medicare rebate, you must:
- have a Mental Health Care Plan completed by your GP; and
- provide us with a signed and dated referral letter from your GP, that is addressed to your treating psychologist.
A Mental Health Care Plan is not required if you are referred by a Paediatrican or Psychiatrist, or if you are planning on claiming rebates through your private health fund (please check with your fund for eligibility).
Medicare rebates are available for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. After six sessions, you will be required to attend a review with your GP, who can then approve four further sessions if deemed helpful. A letter approving these further sessions must be provided to us prior to your 7th session, for your psychologist to process your rebate.
Fees
Please call us to discuss our schedule of clinical and supervision fees. Fees are payable on the day of your appointment via EFT, Visa, Mastercard or cash. Hicaps is available at the Eastern Clinic meaning Medicare and Private Health Fund rebates can be redeemed on the day of consultation. Both clinics can use online Medicare claiming for efficient processing.
Please see our services page for more details about our testing services. A package of testing including a background interview, testing sessions, and feedback session with a report. Medicare does not provide a rebate for these services. Some Private Health Funds cover some costs, please check with your fund.
Cancellation: if you are unable to attend your appointment, please call to let us know at the earliest opportunity so that the appointment can be filled by another person. If you fail to give 48 hours notice, and your appointment cannot be filled, there is a cancellation fee. This fee cannot be claimed under Medicare or private health funds (as per their policies).
